Vice President Taha receives Chinese Ambassador to Sudan
Khartoum, Aug. 11 (SUNA) - Vice President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, received at his office at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers Monday the Chinese Ambassador to Sudan. The meeting discussed issues of common concern and means of pushing forward the domains of bilateral cooperation at all the aspects. The Chinese Ambassador said in a statement to the press the meeting discussed the issue of the memorandum of the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), pointing out that the Chinese stance is that this memorandum has negative impacts on the ongoing peaceful and political solution of the issue of Darfur. In this regard, the Chinese Ambassador urged the International Community to adhere to cooperation with the government of Sudan towards the peaceful and political settlement of Darfur in order to avert deterioration of situations in Darfur. The Ambassador further expressed readiness of his country to cooperate with Sudan and the international community to surpass the current situation, saying that China supports the stance of the African Union and Arab League, calling on the Security Council to consider these stances seriously in order to end the current crisis.
