UN Secretary General welcomes President Al-Bashir declaration of cease-fire in Darfur
New York, Nov. 13 (SUNA)- The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, has welcomed President Omar al-Bashir's declaration of an immediate ceasefire in Darfur. The Spokesperson for the Secretary-General said that the Secretary-General stressed that the effectiveness of any ceasefire depends upon all parties demonstrating their commitment to a cessation of hostilities. He further emphasized that the international community continues to have high expectations that the Government of Sudan and the armed movements will make concrete progress towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
