Japan Declares Support to Arab African Initiative on Darfur
Tokyo, Feb. 2 (SUNA) - Japan has declared its support to the Arab African Initiative which is sponsored by the State of Qatar to realize peace in Darfur. This came in the intensive talks which were held by the State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ali Karti, at the Japanese Foreign Ministry Monday, where he met the Japanese Foreign Minister, his deputy and a number of senior officials. The talks discussed progress of implementation of the peace agreement, peace efforts in Darfur and boosting of Sudanese-Japanese relations in all domains. Japan has reaffirmed its support to humanitarian and development work as well as the democratic transformation process in Sudan. Karti appreciated the Japanese continuous support to peace efforts in Sudan, calling on Japan in its capacity as a member of the Security Council to work for supporting peaceful solutions in Sudan. The Minister will meet also a number of Japanese parliamentarians, businessmen and politicians. IF/BT
