[Unattributed report: "Minister of Energy and Mining Visits China"]

Khartoum, 12 Aug (Suna) - Minister of Energy and Mining Al- Zubayr Ahmad al-Hasan has paid an official visit to the People's Republic of China at invitation extended to him by the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation [CNPC] to discuss the future of the developing cooperation between the Ministry and CNPC.

The minister held a number of meetings in Beijing including the meeting with the CNPC Chairman that discussed the ongoing cooperation and ways to develop the currently producing oil fields to increase the rate of daily production of the country.

Meanwhile, Al-Hasan participated in the inauguration of the Olympic Games in Beijing. The minister also met with the Director General of the Chinese Poly Company which operates in Sudan in different fields especially in gold in mining at Bayudha Desert.

The Poly Company Director General explained to the minister progress of work in the fields. The Poly Company Director General pointed out to the arrival of all his company equipment to Port Sudan in preparation to start work.
