Nigeria beat Sudan 5-0 in African Youth Championship qualifier
APA - Lagos (Nigeria) Nigeria’s U-20 football team, the Flying Eagles on Saturday defeated their Sudanese counterpart 5-0 in the African Youth Championship qualifier slated for Rwanda in 2009.
The match played at the National Stadium, Abuja saw the Nigerian team dominating the game with the captain of the Flying Eagles, Lukman Haruna, converting the penalty awarded to the side in the 18th minute of first half of the encounter.
Nigeria’s second goal came in the 37th minute of the match though a free kick taken by Ganiyu Oseni and was deflected by one of the Sudanese players.
The first half ended 2-0 in favour of the Nigerian team.
The Nigerian Flying Eagles continued their domination of the match and scored the third goal in the 59th minute of the game through Emenike Nkume, while Gbolaham Salami scored the fourth goal in the 78th minute.
The fifth goal of the match came in the 84th minute of the match through Macaulay Chrisantus to seal the encounter 5-0 for the Nigerian side.
The second leg of the qualifier will take place in Khartoum in two weeks time.
