Iran Khodro Diesel Co. managing director says the company will export 1,400 buses to Sudan worth $140 million over the next three years.
Iran and Sudan signed a contract for the sale of the buses when a delegation, headed by the Khartoum Province governor, visited Iran Khodro Diesel Co., Reza Asem Nekhjehvani told Mowj News.
Nekhjehvani said Sudan's market is both profitable and strategically important for the company in East Africa.
The competition of European and Asian companies is intense in that region, yet Sudanese transportation authorities selected Iran Khodro Diesel vehicles because of their quality and favorable after-sale services, Nakhjehvani added.
Iran Khodro Diesel Company is a leading Iranian manufacturer of heavy commercial vehicles with growing sales in domestic and regional markets.
The Iran Khodro Diesel and Sudan trade partnership began two years ago. To date, 30 buses and several trucks have been sold to that country. Sudan is the fourth African nation to import Iran Khodro Diesel vehicles. Gambia, the Ivory Coast and Senegal have imported the company's vehicles.
Kazakhstan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan the United Arab Emirates and Yemen are among other countries importing the company's products.
