Sudan and Egypt Agree to Continue Efforts to Unite Nile Basin Countries
Khartoum, May 20 (SUNA) - Sudan and Egypt agreed to continue efforts, consultations and coordination to achieve the unity of the Nile Basin Countries
The Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Engineer. Kamal Ali Mohamed, said following a meeting held Thursday with the visiting Egyptian Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Engineer. Mohamed Nasr-Eddin Allam, that the two sides agreed to continue working with the international community to unite the Nile Water Basin Countries to exploit the Nile water for the interest of the people of their countries
He indicated that the two countries agreed that the recent step taken by the other Nile Basin countries by signing the Cooperation Framework Agreement concerning the establishment of a commission will suspend the Nile Water Basin Initiative
The minister underlined that Sudan and Egypt affirmed their declared stance on rejection the Framework Agreement for the establishment of the commission which does not include all the Nile Basin countries and the water security article that guarantee the current uses and rights of the Nile Basin countries.
