A Filipino male overseas worker based in the Middle East arrested for killing his Sudanese landlord in June 2009 had been sentenced to death by a Saudi court, it was learned Friday.
Deployed to Riyadh two years ago as a tile setter, the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who asked to be identified only as Joseph from Mexico, Pampanga was allegedly brutally beaten by his Sudanese landlord when he refused to pay his monthly rent since it was not yet due.
According to overseas group Migrante-Middle East regional coordinator John Leonard Monterona, the 30-year-old migrant worker fought back and accidentally killed the Sudanese.
