Mediation Welcomes Government Release of 57 Members of the Justice and Equality Movement
Doha, Feb. 25 (SUNA) - The Joint Mediation of the negotiations in Doha for realizing peace in Darfur has welcomed the government release of 57 of the convicts of the Justice and Equality Movement and the statements issued by the government and the Justice and Equality Movement on their commitment to the cease-fire
In a statement issued by the Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed bin Abdalla Al-Mahmoud, and the Joint Mediator of the African Union and the United Nations, Djibril Bassole, the joint mediation stated that such constructive steps will have positive impacts on the ongoing peace process
The statement indicated that the mediation in engaged in the same time in holding intensive consultations with the delegations of the government and the Movement for Liberation and Justice toward finalizing a framework agreement that would be signed in the coming days, including the cease-fire.
