General Director of Police Forces announces drop of crime rate by more than 50% during the elections period
Khartoum 12.05.2010 (SUNA) - The General Director of the Police Forces, Gen. Hashim Osman, has announced the decrease of the crime rate by more than 50% during the period of the recent elections all over the northern states
This came in a press conference he held Wednesday at the Ministry of Interior, saying that the crimes of robbery in Darfur have decreased by more than 60%
Gen. Osman explained that the Ministry has demanded arrest of the so-called Khalil Ibrahim through the Interpol after he committed 300 violations to the cease-fire agreement that he had signed with the government. Gen. Osman explained that the forces of Khalil are looting fuel and food stuff from the unarmed people around the water-pump areas, describing these activities as terrorist and inhuman acts
Responding to questions of Journalists on allegations against the police forces on transporting and replacement of the ballot boxes, Gen. Osman affirmed that these allegations are false because no single report was reported against the police forces, besides the fact that the Police Forces are not the only forces who were in charge of securing the elections in presence of agents of parties and members of the National Elections Commission
The General Director of the Police Forces affirmed the readiness of the Police Forces to secure the referendum for the southerners in northern Sudan according to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA)
