China Affirms its Concern with Situation in Sudan and the Efforts to Solve Darfur Issue and to Hold the Elections
Beijing, Mar. 30 (SUNA) - China has affirmed its concern with Sudan affairs and the developments in the country, especially with regard to solving Darfur issue and holding the general elections
In a statement to SUNA, the spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the Chinese special envoy for Sudan, Liu Guijin, is playing a major role for consolidating the Sino-Sudanese relations and will contribute to the solution of Darfur issue and implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA)
He said that China is also following up the arrangements for holding the elections in Sudan, adding that China has provided support for the elections in Sudan and will send observers to monitor the Sudanese elections
The spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry indicated that the elections in Sudan will contribute to the development, stability and reconciliation in Sudan
He described the relations between China and Sudan as strategic, asserting that the two countries are exerting great efforts for cementing further the relations between them through the exchange of visits and increasing the cooperation between them in all fields
He said that Sudan and China are maintaining coordination and cooperation at the regional and international forums
He referred to existing cooperation between China and Sudan in the media field, adding that they obtain Sudan news through Sudan News Agency (SUNA), while China News Agency (Xinhua) is providing Sudan with China news
The spokesman of China Foreign Ministry said that Sudan will take part at Shanghai International Exhibition, which is scheduled to begin on April 30
