"He took the job after his girlfriend had his child, so he could earn more money to support them with a months-old baby," according to the NY Times. Mario: At 63, the oldest miner among the trapped. He suffers from a lung disease common to miners and had been on antibiotics inside the mine. After being rescued, he dropped to his knees, bowed his head in prayer and clutched the Chilean flag. Mario's wife, Lilianett, pulled him up from the ground and embraced him. Lilianett: The wife of the oldest miner, Mario. When her husband was rescued and threw himself to the ground in prayer, she pulled him up and embraced him. "The couple had talked by video once a week, and she said that [Mario] had repeated the promise he made to her in his initial letter from inside the mine: He would marry her properly in a church wedding, followed by the honeymoon they never had," according to the AP. Estaban: Another miner who says the incident has inspired him to want to give his wife of 25 years a proper church wedding. Victor: Victor Segovia chronicled his two months underground in a notebook and he rose from underground as a potential author. Another miner of the same name held his pregnant wife, Jessica, in an extended embrace after stepping outside the mine.
