US Foreign Affairs Department announced that while it would not want to intensify the armed nature of the revolution in fear of an escalation of violence, it would look into other options if the regime does not answer to international pressure. This statement alludes to the possibility of arming the Syrian opposition if no political settlement was reached with the regime.
 
The preparations for the ‘Friends of Syria’ conference are still underway. The conference, backed by foreign powers and the Arab League, aims to end the violence in Syria. Russia and Lebanon announced that they will not be participating in the conference; Russia considered the goals of the conference to be vague.
 
The neighbourhoods of the city of Homs continued to be subjected to heavy shelling for the eighteenth day in a row, as regime forces continue to bombard houses and civilians using missiles, tanks, and heavy artillery. Many civilians have been buried alive under the rubble, while the regime continued to cut off water, electricity, communications, medicine, and children’s milk.
 
Assad’s forces killed at least 106 today; most fell in the city of Homs. As for the province of Idlib, regime forces invaded the villages adjacent to the Jabal Zawiya village killing and arresting dozens, and destroying many houses. Meanwhile, the military campaign in the suburbs of Damascus continued against the cities and towns of the Eastern Ghouta area, while the village of Zaydeen was invaded by regime militias.
