Summary of Events

The US Department of Defence (DoD) announced that many US unmanned drones have been flying over Syria to watch the attacks of the regime’s forces against civilians. DoD Officials added that the observation missions are not preliminary for a US military intervention, but are merely there to collect evidence of human rights violations to reinforce the international stance on Syria.

In Damascus, at least 20,000 people took out to the streets in the neighbourhood of Mazeh for the funeral processions of yesterday’s fallen heroes, as regime forces opened fire at the tens of thousands who went out in the Friday demonstration under the snow. Regime forces arrested dozens and rounded them up in the Iranian Embassy. Meanwhile, the Damascus suburbs of Zabadani and Madaya are still under the control of over 20,000 regime troops and militiamen who are looting and wrecking the houses and commercial establishments, while preventing the entry of food and heating fuel. The cities have also been missing electricity, communications and water.

Regime forces killed at least 17 today; most fell in the city of Homs which has been under heavy shelling and bombardment for more than two weeks now. In the province of Idlib, and during the regime’s regular campaign of random shelling on the village of Kafarnabouda, an armoured unit shelled a car with defected soldiers killing all of them. Upon the arrival of local residents to look for the wounded the armoured unit shelled the wreckage, killing and wounding many. Tanks and armoured units invaded the city of Bosr al-Harir in the province of Daraa. In Aleppo, security forces opened heavy machinegun fire in the neighbourhoods of Fardoos and Ansari. Regime forces continued to subject the town of Atareb to heavy siege for the fifth day, while snipers and militiamen have imposed a curfew with random shootings while looting and wrecking local shops.

Saudi Arabia suspended all Saudi Airlines flights to Syria in accordance with the Arab League’s economic sanctions on the regime. Saudia is the only country to enact the sanctions which have been imposed two months ago.
