Assistant of President lauds Egypt cooperation in reconstruction of East Sudan

Khartoum, Feb. 22 (SUNA) - Assistant of the President of the Republic, Musa Mohamed Ahmed, discussed with the Egyptian Ambassador to Sudan, Abdul Gafar Al-Deeb, at the Republican Palace Wednesday the commitments of the Egyptian government concerning development and reconstruction in East Sudan, commending Egypt's cooperation in the implementation of the East Sudan Peace Agreement as well as the re-construction in East Sudan. 

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ambassador affirmed in a statement to the press after the meeting Egypt's commitment to fulfill its pledges to contribute to the development and reconstruction in East Sudan, through in the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa and the Egyptian contributions that were declared during the recent International Donors and Investors Conference for East Sudan in Kuwait. 

The Egyptian Ambassador said that he briefed the Assistant of the President on the Egyptian projects that are expected to be inaugurated next weeks in East Sudan, including Egyptian schools and a branch of Al-Azhar Institute which will be inaugurated during the upcoming visit of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar which comes at the invitation of the First Vice President of the Republic. 

The Egyptian Ambassador said that the meeting also touched on the requirements of the States of East Sudan for cultural, education, small-scale projects and vocational training aspects, which will be conducted through a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between Sudan an Egypt. 

The Ambassador revealed that some Egyptian agricultural projects, funded by the National Bank of Egypt, will be inaugurated in East Sudan in the coming period, affirming that the Sudanese and Egyptian leaderships are focus on the agricultural cooperation in order to achieve self-sufficiency in the two countries and the Arab arena as well. 

Ambassador Abdul Gafar said that he conveyed the greetings of the Egyptian government to the Assistant of the President.
