Human Relief Foundation (HRF), working with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in Sudan, carried out training for NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) based in Sudan. The training will help the NGOs build their capacity in proposal writing, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

Forty-three participants from 40 Sudanese NGOs attended the workshop. The program was highly welcomed by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs.

An opening session, attended by the Commissioner, Dr. Sulaiman AbdelRahman and a number of representatives from the United Nations and other international NGOs, launched the workshops held by HRF.

The opening session was televised on Sudan TV and aired on more than 5 channels on the news. Dr. Salah Daak, International Programme Director at HRF, talked to Sudan TV about the charity's activities in Sudan (which included supporting schools and operating a medical clinic) and other countries.

The closing session, held on 29th December 2011, was attended by the High Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs in Sudan and representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs, the United Nations and international NGOs.

HRF plans to continue the capacity building program and reach a target of training 200 NGOs, with more workshops every 15 days. In this way, HRF will be more effective in carrying out emergency relief and aid assistance in the area, by strengthening its relations with the NGOs, the Sudanese authorities and international donors.
