Whereabouts of Russians abducted in Sudan remains unknown

MOSCOW, August 30 (Itar-Tass) -- The exact whereabouts of the Russians abducted in Sudan remains unknown, but they are believed to be held in the city of Nyala, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday, August 30.

“The whereabouts of the Russians is still unknown. According to preliminary information, the crew is being held in the city of Nyala and ha snot been taken outside the city,” the ministry said.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the Sudanese authorities are in “close contact with the Russian Embassy in Khartoum and taking active steps to find the Russian citizens.”

It was reported earlier that the Sudanese authorities had established the whereabouts of three Russian pilots kidnapped in the south of Darfur on Sunday.
