UNAMID says it is continuing delivery of humanitarian aid to people affected by recent incidents in Darfur

 

Al-Fasher, Dec. 29 (SUNA) - The joint UN and African Union Mission for Darfur (UNAMID) announced that it will continue to cooperate with the local security officials of North and South Darfur for reaching all the areas which were affected in the recent security incidents so as to convey humanitarian aid to thousands of the displaced who escaped their houses to interim camps near the site of the UNAMID mission

 

The UNAMID said in a press release issued Wednesday that humanitarian aid was delivered Wednesday to the displaced people at Shangil Tobay area in North Darfur State. The UNAMID said that its mission Wednesday held a meeting with the local authorities and the displaced leaders, adding that peace-keeping forces of the UNAMID have escorted a convoy composed of four trucks carrying humanitarian aid to Sheiariya area. It said that around 100 displaced persons arrived at Zamzam camp, southern Al-Fasher, coming from Shangil Tobya, indicating that the number of the displaced persons at and around Shangil Tobya has reached 14000 persons.
