Two Republican Decrees assigning Dr. Ghazi with Darfur Dossier and establishing follow-up committee under his chairmanship
Khartoum, July 26 (SUNA)- President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, on Monday issued a Republican Decree No. 194 for the year 2010 according to which Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin Al-Atabani, was appointed to handle the Darfur Dossier
President Al-Bashir issued another Decree, No. of 195 for the year 2010, forming a committee to follow up the Dossier of Darfur, headed by Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin, and includes in its membership the Ministers of Defence, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Finance and National Economy and Information as well as the three Governors of Darfur States, Representative of the Interim Regional Authority of Darfur
The Decree said the Committee should be responsible for the negotiations of Darfur, all the external relations with regard to Darfur, Humanitarian policy in Darfur, negotiations on security arrangements, following up the implementation of signed peace agreements, drafting national policy for development and services, supervising internal popular reconciliations in Darfur, monitoring local and international media on Darfur issues, coordinating with governments of Darfur States on the implementation of Republican Decrees on Darfur
The Decree further explained that the main objective of the committee is to draft general policies for the State with regard to the issue of Darfur as well as evaluating the implementation of these policies, under the aegis of President of the Republic
The decree also stipulated the formation of an Advisory Council by a Presidential decree from official and popular personalities to provide advice to the Chairman and the members of the Committee
