Sudan to host FAO Regional Conference for the Near East
Khartoum, Nov 25 (SUNA)-Sudan will host the thirtieth FAO Regional Conference for the Near East with participation of FAO Director General, Dr Jacques Diouf and ministers of agriculture of 28 states. The conference will be preceded by a three day meeting of the Agriculture and Land and Water Use Commission for the Near East (ALAWUC/NE) on November 30, said Information coordinator of the conference, Ahmed Sayid Abdel-Aziz. The sixth session will discuss water management, food quality control, modernization of irrigation systems, marketing of agricultural products and legislation and law reform, he said. The conference, meanwhile, will discuss challenges facing Near East countries, future plans and food and agriculture situations for improvement of food security and achievement of sustainable development in member states. Regional and international observers will be invited to attend the conference, he added. AH
