Sudan participates in international symposium on protection of civilians in armed conflicts

 

Kuala Lumpur, Feb. 10 (SUNA) - Sudan is currently participating in a symposium on protection of civilians during wartimes from an Islamic and Human Prospective was organized at the International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by the Islamic Forum for International Human Law, a mechanism of the Islamic Committee of the International Red Crescent Society, as part of its 26 Session. The Symposium is expected to last on 12 February

 

Present at the Symposium were the former Malaysian Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, and experts in Islamic Studies and International Human Law in the Islamic Countries

 

In his address in the opening session, the Former Prime Minister of Malaysia touched on the negative impacts of wars in the backwardness of the Islamic countries, saying they are targeted by the West because they are week , suffer from internal problems and not applying the Islamic Humanitarian Laws for protection of civilians during the wars as stipulated for in Sharia, calling on the Islamic courtiers to protect the civilians and to highlight the contributions of the Islamic Figh in enriching the International Law

 

It is to be noted that Secretary General of Tabarak Foundation for Development of Society, Mrs. Hoida El-Tighani Awad, presented a paper on the role being played by the foundation in protection of Children from getting involved in the armed conflicts, by focusing on the three States of Darfur

 

She said to SUNA that the conference was very useful and that Sudan would utilize its outcomes in making strategic partnerships and boosting its cooperation with some participating Arab and Islamic Organizations

 

She revealed that Tabark Foundation of Sudan would sign memorandums of Understanding with the Qatari Red Crescent Society and the Iranian Red Crescent Society to enhance partnerships among the humanitarian organizations

 

She revealed that she will discuss the former Prime Minister of Malaysia about the situations in Darfur as well as the objectives of the national humanitarian organizations in Sudan
