State Minister for Foreign Affairs Praises Norwegian Government Efforts in Supporting Peace Process

 

Khartoum, Oct. 13 (SUNA) - The State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kamal Hassan Ali, has lauded the efforts being exerted by Norway in supporting peace process in the country

 

He pointed out that the role of Norway was a pivotal one during the negotiating period on the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and throughout its implementation

 

Upon receiving the visiting Norwegian Minister of Envirnmnet and the International Cooperation, Hol Heim, at his office Wednesday, Ali asked the Norwegian government to go a head in its efforts to complete implementation of the CPA and to realize durable peace and stability in the Sudan

 

He reiterated the government call for holding a free and fair referendum that expresses the real desire of the south Sudan citizens

 

The minister asserted at the same time the government keenness and determination to support the unity option, besides calling on the voters to cast ballots in favour of it, stressing the importance of reaching a political resolution and final agreement on the entire pending issues, particularly Abyei issue and borders' demarcation for creating favourable atmosphere for the referendum

 

Ali reviewed with the Norwegian minister progress of the bilateral relations between the two countries and the necessity to work for boosting them further. They also deliberated about human rights issues and issues of mutual concern
