Fatima Abdul Mahmoud says US Administration opts to write off Sudan's debts,
lift sanctions
Khartoum, April 4 (SUNA) – The Chairperson of the
Sudanese Socialist Union Party and Director of the UNESCO Chair for Women in
Science and Technology, Prof. Fatima Abdul Mahmoud, revealed what she described
as signs that the US Administration was going to write off its debts on Sudan as
well as lifting the sanctions washington imposes on Khartoum
Professor Fatima told the Sudan News Agency Press Foreum shedding lights
on her recent visit to the USA where she participated in the meeting of the
Women Committee as well as her meetings with prominent personalities in the US
Administration, including Assistant Secretary of State and Directors of Foreign
Departments and the White House
Prof. Fatima said the American Administration cares for the issues of
Development in Northern Sudan as well as improving the relations linking Sudan
and Chad and removing the pending issues by focusing on participation in ruling
the Sudan by a national movement in which all the parties will be represented
and giving priority to democracy and freedoms
She described as successful and candid her meetings with the US Special
Envoy to Sudan Princeton Lyman and his aides, explaining that the US
Administration was very enthusiastic to push forward relations with Sudan
However, she spoke about obstacles facing this closeness, attributing
that to unnamed lobbies that hinder this tendency
