President Al-Bashir returns home from Egypt

 

Khartoum, March 9 (SUNA)- President of Republic of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, returned home Wednesday evening after a two-day official visit to Arab Republic of Egypt during which he held talks with the Egyptian officials, leaders of the political parties and intellectuals on the bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual concern

 

The Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, said in a press statement that the President's visit was the first of an Arab president to Egypt after the change which occurred in Egypt, saying the visit was widely welcomed by Egyptian government and people

 

He asserted that the visit came in the framework of support to new Egyptian government and a step for correcting the track of the relations between the two countries

 

He pointed out that the two sides frankly dicussed the impediments facing the bilateral relations in the past period, especially concerning the agreement of the four freedoms, besides issues of cooperation in domain of food security and energy

 

He said that the two parties shared identical views on the motives for the popular uprisings in the Arab World and the threats facing the Arab nation. He said that the Sudanese and Egyptian sides discussed the situation in Libya and importance of extending support to Libya to surpass its current crisis. Karti hoped that the urgent meeting of the Arab League's ministerial council will achieve decisions helping the solution of the Libya crisis and enhancing the situation of the Libyan people. He said that the two parties underscored the importance of the Egyptian role at the regional, Arab, Islamic and international levels. Concerning the issue of Halaib, the Foreign Minister said that the current time is not suitable for raising this issue, adding that Halaib will not a source of dispute between Sudan and Egypt
