President Al-Bashir Affirms his Support to National Library Project

 

Khartoum, Feb. 27 (SUNA)- President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, has affirmed his support to the National Library project, that its foundation stone will be laid down in the coming days

 

The National Library will be implemented at an area of 11,000 square meters western of the National Museum at the Nile Street at the cost of 40 million dollars

 

In his address at a meeting in the Republican Palace with the board of directors of the National Library, President Al-Bashir said that the Civilization Project aims for re-formulation of the nation and unification of its attitude. President Al-Bashir has underscored the importance of the cultural work in boosting the social fabric and pushing ahead the nation's march

 

The meeting was attended by the Vice - President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, the Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Jalal Yousif Al-Degair, and the State Minister at the Council of Ministers, Dr. Mohamed Mukhtar

 

President Al-Bashir said that the National Project symbolizes the desire and aspiration to provide information for the researches, thinkers and scientists with their different specializations

 

Meanwhile, the Minister of Culture, Al-Samawal Khalafalla, said that the National Library represents a deposit of the Sudanese heritage and culture. SUNA learned that the building of the National Library will be composed of 11 floors which will include books, films, heritage, manuscripts, audio-visual rooms, a children library and another for people of special needs, a printing press, translation and research, press and media services, meetings and computer
