National Congress, SPLM forward proposals on Abyei issue to AU Panel on Sudan
Addis Ababa, Nov. 22 (SUNA)- State Minister at Foreign Ministry, Kamal Hassan Ali stressed that the National Congress and Sudan's People Liberation Movement (SPLM) held a series of meetings and came out with several proposals on Abyei issue which have been submitted to the African Union Panel on Sudan for consider them
He said in a statement to SUNA that the problems facing the parties to the Abyei issue is not pertinent to border demarcation but concerns with who will have right to vote in the coming referendum
Abyei protocol stipulated that Dinka Ngok and other citizens who are resident in the area have the right to vote, but SPLM insists that Massariya will have not this right, Kamal Hassan elaborated
He expected the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, and the First Vice-President of the Republic, Ge. Salva kiir Mayardit, will meet with Chairman of the AU Panel on Sudan Thambo Mbeki in Addis Ababa to reach a compromise in this connection
The State Minister added that any solution does not include Massariya right to vote will lead to emergence of many problems
