Mediation to Assess Negotiation Process on Thursday

 

Doha, July 13 (SUNA)- The Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed bin Abdalla Al-Mahound, pointed out that the Joint Mediation for peace in Darfur will hold a meeting on Thursday to evaluate progress of the negotiations up to now

 

In a press statement, Al-Mahmoud said that the Joint Mediation is needy for reviewing papers and formulating an integrated proposal, in coordination with all the concerned parties, so as to put on the negotiation table and to begin implementing it

 

He said that the negotiations will not suspended, adding that there will be consultations with the parties, besides efforts to bring other parties to the negotiations and identifying of the concerned circles internally and abroad. The Qatari minister said that the Mediation does not want a partial peace, but aim to reach a just and comprehensive peace

 

He referred to the role of the Mediation for identifying the views of the Darfurian civil society and the signing of framework agreements between the government and each of the Justice and Equality Movement and the Liberation and Justice Movement

 

Al-Mahmoud said that the meeting which he and the joint mediator of the UN and African Union, Djibril Bassole, held with Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Nour in Paris was a positive and fruitful, explaining that Nour has affirmed his support to the negotiations and peace process

 

Responding to a question, Al-Mahmoud said that the Joint Mediation is maintaining continuous coordination with the Libyan officials, adding that the Libyan officials are exerting efforts to boost the Doha negotiation forum
