Kibir and Gration Review Peace Process in Darfur and Ways to Revamp American Role in Development and Services Fields
Al-Fasher, Dec. 9 (SUNA) - The Wali (governor) of North Darfur State, Osman Mohamed Yousif Kibir, Thursday met in Al-Fasher with the American envoy for Sudan, Gen. Scott Gration, the Director of the USAID and the Commissioner General for Humanitarian Aid, Dr. Suleiman Abdul-Rahman, and discussed the peace process in Darfur and means of boosting the American role for solving Darfur issue and implementing development and services programmes and supporting the voluntary repatriation process
The meeting was attended by a number of ministers and senior officials in North Darfur State
Meanwhile, Kibir affirmed his government readiness to cooperate with the American envoy for implementing the common goals, especially in the humanitarian field
He also asserted the keenness of the government to provide the citizens returning voluntarily to their home areas with water, health and education services and to enhance their living conditions
The American envoy appreciated the positive developments in Darfur region and the efforts for normalization of the Sudanese - Chadian relations
The official of USAID expressed her agency's readiness to work together with the government of North Darfur State to enable the displaced people depend on themselves and to surpass the stage of relief to the development stage
