Kassala State, JICA sign technical cooperation agreement to provide basic services in Kassala State at 17 Million US Dollars

 

Khartoum, Feb 23 (SUNA) - Kassala State and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Wednesday signed an agreement on technical cooperation project entitled "Capacity Development Project for the provision of Services for Basic Human Needs in Kassal State," at the premises of the Chamber of Federal Governance

 

The agreement was signed by the Wali (governor) of Kassala State, Mohamed Yousif Abdalla, and the Resident Representative of JICA in Sudan, Kenichi Shishido, in presence of the Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Galal Yusuf Al-Degair and Secretary General of the Higher Council for Decentralized Governance, Prof. El-Amin Daffalla

 

The Project aims at providing Kassala State with basic services such as development planning, water supply, agriculture and livelihood, maternal and Child health and vocational training with a total value of 17 million US Dollars to be implemented in three years as from May 2011

 

Addressing the occasion, Dr. Galal Al-Degair commended JICA's continuous efforts and support to some Sudanese states without conditions, saying that Japan among the countries that met its commitments toward the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and other projects with 320 millions, particularly in the States of Darfur and Western and Southern Sudan in a view that Development is the only guarantee for the sustainability of peace

 

The occasion was addressed by Representatives of JICA and Kassala States as well as the Secretary General of the Decentralized Governance, highlighting the importance of the projects to be implemented by JICA is Kassala State
