Government reaffirms commitment to referendum results if conducted freely

Addis Ababa, November 22 (SUNA) - The State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kamal Hassan Ali, has renewed the government commitment to the referendum result if conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner that reflects the will of the southern citizen. The National Congress Party delegation to the IGAD experts' meeting stated that the SPLM has put many obstacles before the registration of voters, the state minister said. He explained that the delegation has pointed to the prevention of southern citizens from registration in the north, and that an official complaint was delivered to the Referendum Commission in this regard. It is to be noted that the President of the Republic Omer Al-Bashir arrived in Addis Ababa on Monday evening heading a high-level delegation to participate in the IGAD summit, which will discuss issues of Sudan on Tuesday.
