Khartoum, Feb. 14 (SUNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for explanation from the American side on statements attributed to the American Consul to Juba during his meeting with leading figures of Sudan Liberation Movement (SPLM) and northern political leaders that have links with the SPLM
In a press statement, the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, Khalid Musa, said that the statements attributed to the American Consul were strange and inconsistent with the spirit and requirements of the ongoing political dialogue between Khartoum and Washington, adding that like these statements were not given by any American official at highest levels
Musa said that Sudan will adopt the suitable stance after it receives the official response from the American side in this respect
He indicated that the said meeting disclosed serious details of the American strategy concerning north Sudan issues and use of the SPLM and opposition forces for changing the structure of the Sudanese state
Meanwhile, Musa affirmed the Foreign Ministry's respect to the desire of the Parliament to get information on Sudan foreign policy and Halaib issue, adding that Halaib issue remained one of the agenda of the dialogue with the successive Egyptian government for a long time
