Governance and Administration Sector Reviews Implementation of Civil Register
Khartoum, Dec. 16 (SUNA) - The Government and Administration Sector at the Council of Ministers, chaired by the Minister at the Presidency of the Republic, Gen. Barki Hassan Salih, Thursday held a meeting at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers and reviewed the Civil Register Act for the year 2010, which aims to provide a comprehensive data base that help in the planning and decision-making and organizing the issue of the Sudanese nationality
The sector also reviewed a report on the implementation of the programme for disarmament, demobilization and reintegration which is regarded as a safety-valve for realizing durable peace in the country
Chairman of the Commission for Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration, Dr. Sulaf-Eddin Salih, said that the demobilization rate was 30% which is equal to demobilization of 30,000, referring to the desire of the international community that the commission shall continue implementing its plans
The Commissioner for Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration in South Sudan, William Deng, said that the meeting has reviewed the plan of the his commission which is a national programme, calling for continuity of the commission to its works whatever the result of the referendum
