Framework Agreement Signed by Armed Forces and SPLA for Securing Petroleum Areas in South Sudan
Falluj, Dec. 6 (SUNA)- The federal Minister of Defence, Gen. Abdul-Rahim Mohamed Hussein, and the Minister of Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) Affairs, Niyal Deng, Monday signed in Falluj town, the Upper Nile State, a framework agreement for securing the petroleum areas and establishments in the south (southern the border of 1956)
The agreement was signed in the presence of the Vice - President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, and the Vice - President of the Government of South, Dr. Riek Machar
The agreement included continuity of the joint integrated forces in accordance with the current security arrangements for securing the petroleum southern of the external station
The agreement deals with securing the establishments, individuals, companies, employees as well as boosting the security situation for the referendum stages
The agreement stipulated that security of the petroleum southern of the border of 1956 is the responsibility of the joint integrated forces, and the security forces (of the National Security Organ and south Sudan Police)
The agreement included continuity of the joint integrated units to securing the petroleum areas in the south till July 9, 2011 according to the political directives that the two partners agree upon following declaration of the referendum result
The two parties agreed on formation of mechanism to observe implementation of the security plan and to carry out immediate intervention to contain any emergency incident, provided that this mechanism is to be headed by the federal Minister of Interior and the Minister of Interior of the Government of South Sudan as the deputy chairman, the Director of the Security and Intelligence Organ as member, Deputy Chairman of the Security and Intelligence Organ as member, the Commander of the Joint Integrated Forces and his deputy as members
