Enhancing Ties With Sudan

Iran is to launch an agro-industrial complex in Sudan, Agricultural Jihad Minister Sadeq Khalilan announced.

Conferring with his Sudanese counterpart Abdel-Halim Al-Mutafi in Tehran, Khalilian emphasized on mutual cooperation, Mehr News Agency reported.

According to the agreement, a land has been allocated in Sudan for the mentioned purpose, he said, adding the executive operations will start soon.

The minister said Iran is ready to transfer its know-how in terms of production of wheat, sugar and related industries to this African nation.

It can also launch paper producing factory in Sudan, he pointed out.

The country can cooperate with Sudan in exporting technical-engineering services, farming machineries, irrigation facilities as well as holding training courses, Khalilian said.

Sudanese minister showed his willingness on Iran's training courses for Sudanese experts.

Al-Mutafi referred to promoting research between the two nations, using Iran's experience in wheat production and mutual cooperation between the farmers of two nations as the other goals of his trip.
 
In another development, Iran and Sudan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mapping in an effort to promote scientific and technical ties, Fars News agency reported.

Head of National Cartographic Center of Iran Mahmoud Ilkhan said the MoU was signed in a ceremony with participation of Sudanese delegation including Head of Sudan Cartographic Center Abdullah Alsagh Ali.

Ilkhan pointed out that National Cartographic Center of Iran is ready to train Sudanese experts and hold short- and long-term courses for them.
