Adamu denies SA duty •Heads for Sudan on CAF duty
FIFA and CAF member, Dr. Amos Adamu, is in Sudan as leader of CAF delegation to Sudan for a four-day inspection visit. Adamu left the European country last night for Sudan.
The five-man delegation is to inspect the facilities for the Sudan 2011 African Nations Championship.
The team is to spend four days in Sudan to assess the facilities for the CHAN event organised for home-based players on the continent.
“This is a vital assignment and I have to leave Germany to honour it. I will be back in Germany on July 24,” Adamu said.
On his alleged appointment as Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Sports, Adamu said he was not aware of it.
The former Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), said, “no one contacted me for such thing and I don’t know where that issue is coming from. I believe some people are just trying to be mischievous and I am just too busy to start thinking about rumours.
“For the next All Africa Games, I have invitation to work with the LOC and I also have other offers which I am still looking at. I don’t know why people are just doing this.”
He however, acknowledged that he had always advised government on sports matters over the years, adding that he would continue in that capacity if called upon to do so.
