Abul-Ghait, Jean Ping and Ramadane Lammamarah Discuss African Role in Supporting Sudan in Coming Period
Cairo, Aug. 26 (SUNA)- The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Abul-Ghait, received the visiting Chairman of the African Union Commission, Jean Ping, and the African Union's Commissioner of Peace and Security, Ramadane Lammamrah, and discussed the situation in Sudan, Somalia and the Horn of Africa
The meeting focused discussion on the means for boosting the African role toward Sudan, especially that it is entering the most critical moment in its history, represented in the referendum on the future of south Sudan, through helping the two partners of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) achieve political visions that are conducive to safeguarding Sudan unity and preserving the stability and security in the whole region
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hussam Zaki, said that the meeting also reviewed the future of the African Union on the light of the arrangements to transfer the African Union Commission into the African Union Authority and the requirements to revamp the capabilities of the African mechanisms and to bolster the joint African work
Zaki said that Abul-Ghait discussed with the Chairman of the African Union and the Commissioner of the African Union the situation of the African partnerships with international parties
