In press release Sudanese embassy in Nairobi says ICC has no jurisdiction over Sudan, President Al-Bashir will continue his constitutional responsibilities and duties internally and externally

The Sudanese Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya on Friday issued a press release on decision of the ICC against President of the Republic H.E Field Marshal Omer Hassan Ahmed Al Bashir. The statement said Sudan is not member of the ICC and therefore not subject to its jurisdiction and that Sudan rejects the Court's decision and will not engage with it. It stressed that the UNSC Resolution which referred the situation in Darfur to the ICC is deficient as it propagates selective justice and contravenes a recognized principle of the International Law by obliging a state with a treaty to which it is not party. It went to say that there is political consensus in Sudan on this issue and that Council of Ministers and the Parliament issued resolutions rejecting the jurisdiction of the ICC on Sudan. Most of the political parties adopted the same position. The statement explained the ICC deviated from its path and became a political tool at the hand of some powerful countries which use it to achieve their aims and to serve their interests and they want to exploit Sudan's huge resources and to sabotage the internationally-recognized economic achievements of the country. It stated that in spite of the hostile atmosphere, the Government of the Sudan is committed to restraint in the face of foreign conspiracies. It will continue shouldering its responsibilities in maintaining public order and security and providing security to regional and international organizations and diplomatic missions accredited to Sudan. Ii reiterated that the Government of Sudan is committed to all peace agreements it had signed and to achieve peace throughout the country particularly in Darfur. It pledges to continue the quest for peace through the Afro-Arab initiative or any other suitable venue and that the Government calls upon the rebel movements to relinquish violence and to adhere to the peaceful resolution of the conflict through a negotiated settlement. It added the Sudan has been and is still committed to c cooperate with regional and international organizations, in the framework of the principle of collective responsibility, to create a world in which justice and equality prevail, and which is free of hegemony, double standards and intervention in the internal affairs of other countries. It emphasized that Sudan will continue the procession of peace, democratic transformation and development. The President of the country will continue his constitutional responsibilities and duties internally and externally. AS/AS
