PRESS RELEASE

British Ambassador marks the 25th Anniversary of the Chevening Scholarship Programme

The British Ambassador to Sudan , Dr Rosalind Marsden, held a reception on 4 February to mark the 25th anniversary of the Chevening Scholarship Programme.

In a speech to previous scholars and other Sudanese guests, Dr Marsden said, “I am glad that the UK remains a popular destination for Sudanese looking to further their studies and that knowledge and skills learnt in the UK are being put to good use here in Sudan . This reminds me once again of the strong connections between the British and Sudanese people. I hope that the Chevening Programme will continue to strengthen these ties over the next twenty-five years.”

Notes for editors:

Since its creation in 1983, the Chevening Programme has enabled over 200 Sudanese to continue their studies at the world-class higher education facilities that are available in the UK . More information – including how to apply - is available at www.chevening.com.
