Khartoum, 9 May 2010 (SUNA) - The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abul-Ghait, has affirmed Egypt's support to the unity of Sudan as an important state in the African continent

 

This came in a statement to the press following a meeting between the Egyptian Foreign Minister and the Chairman of the Egyptian Inelegance and the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, at the Guest House Monday

 

Abul-Ghait considered their visit to Khartoum and Juba to meet with the southern leadership as a strong Egyptian message to affirm support the united Sudan

 

Abul-Ghair indicated that he conveyed a verbal message from the Egyptian President, Mohamed Hosni Mobarak, to President Al-Bashir

 

He also affirmed Egypt's adherence to the implementation of the Doha Framework Agreement with all accuracy and transparency in order to achieve peace in Darfur

 

He explained that a useful discussion was conducted at the meeting on the situation in Sudan and Darfur as well as the possibility to solve the problems and tensions of the region

 

He said that they also had excellent discussions on the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the referendum in the South

 

The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs said that he was acquainted with the views of President Al-Bashir and the Sudanese government regarding the situation after the elections as well as in the remaining months before the referendum of south Sudan

 

He said that they expressed warm and sincere congratulations on the election of President Al-Bashir
