The President briefed on outcome of the visit by Dr Ghazi Salahuddin to the USA, express appreciation for the results achieved
Khartoum, June 28 (SUNA)-The President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omar Al Bashir on Sunday commended the results achieved by the visit led by Dr Ghazi Salahuddin, Advisor for the President, to the United States of America recently. Dr Ghazi briefed the President of the Republic on the outcome of his participation in the Forum for Support of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and in the discussions between the two partners to the CPA as well as his encounters with member of the us administration, the US Congress and delegates of the leading countries that influence Sudanese affairs and who took part in the forum, besides his meeting with a number of officials of voluntary organizations. Dr Ghazi has pointed out in statements following the meeting with the President that the discussions led with the us administration and the us congress was an unprecedented one and stressing that per se it has not yielded a substantial amendment in the position of the united states of America towards the Sudan, but Sudan's view has strongly been forwarded this time and it has this time been listened to attentively. He said his visit has opened new horizons for action, as it has not confined itself to the American side alone but covered delegations from countries that have influence on the issue of Darfur and the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, and has equally offered new opportunities for understanding and exchanging of views on the remedy for the question of Darfur. He said his meeting with the President of the Republic has touched on the follow up to cement the gains that have been made during the visit. He pointed out that the President has blessed the plan submitted in this regard. Dr Ghazi told journalists that he believed there are new political overtures that could be exploited by a number of internal measures and campaigns and through doubling of efforts for the remedy of he question of Darfur and other pending issues and speeding up the implementation of the CPA and the political transformation process in the country, though legislations,the coming elections and through the implementation of the self determination in 2011. Dr Ghazi said his meeting with representatives of some voluntary organizations touched on a number of issues including the decision to expel some organizations out of the Sudan, adding that he talked with them about the practices that would lead to such a decision and the need to avoid such a conduct. He explained that the American system is complex and multi-layered in its decision taking which meant that decisions are not taken by the executive alone but the legislature has to be lured and gained, beside the existence of various lobby that form the foreign policy decisions be it at the level of the civil society or that of the political activists, not to mention the media that form an important contributing tributary in forming the American position.
