Sudanese and Malaysian news agencies launch steps for information and news exchange-- BERNAMA officials laud SUNA English news

Kuala Lumpur, Feb. 12 (SUNA) - The Deputy Director and the Editor-in-Chief of the Malaysian news agency, BERNAMA, Young Soo Heong has affirmed the agency's readiness for joint cooperation with the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) in the fields of news, training and exchange of experiences

Mr. Young, receiving a delegation from SUNA led by the Assistant Director General for Editing, Ms. Neimat Abdul- Moneim Abdul-Halim Al-Shami, The Plenipotentiary at Sudan's Embassy in Malaysia, Abadi Nur-Eddin, Member of Board of Editors of SUNA and Editor-in-Chief of Sudannow magazine, Mohamed Osman Adam, said BERNAMA is working for strengthening cooperation between the two news agencies officially, a step which was taken by SUNA administration in the proposal of a memorandum of understanding presented by Ms. Neimat Al-Shami. He pointed out that such agreements avail opportunities for the two agencies to exchange news and experiences, expressing welcome to the proposal presented by SUNA leadership in this field

The BERNAMA official indicated that despite that the Malaysian News Agency receives Sudan's news from South-South Information Gateway (SSIG) through Sudan's embassy there but this era is characterized by speed and multiplicity of sources of news, adding that direct cooperation with SUNA through a joint agreement avails bigger opportunity for publishing and transmitting Sudan's news in considerable speed

Meanwhile, Ustaza Neimat pointed out that SUNA, in the context of its efforts to codify the relations linking the two agencies and present Sudan's views and stances, has mapped out the memo of understanding, adding that as from now on SUNA news will be available for BERNAMA to serve the joint interest of the two sides in addition to SUNA's efforts to join officially the South-South Information Gateway of the Malaysian Ministry of Information

Ustaza Neimat has affirmed that SUNA is working for covering all the topics mentioned by the Malaysian side regarding the economic and human interest news besides investment-related stories in English language. IF/BT
