The death toll in the blast in Pune--the second most prominent metropolis after Mumbai in India's western coastal state of Maharashtra--rose to 16 after a Sudanese student succumbed Wednesday to his injuries at a hospital in the city.

Anas Elphat Suleman,21, a science student of Poona College, who was critically injured in the German Bakery blast, died Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The Sudanese student's death came a day after American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Robert Mueller met Tuesday with India's Home Minister P Chidambaram as also the ministry's senior officials and discussed co-operation in handling counter-terrorism and related issues.

Suleman is the fourth foreigner to die in the blast that rocked the popular eatery in Koregaon Park February 13 that also claimed the lives of three other foreigners--a 26-year-old Sudanese student Amjad Elgazoli, an Italian woman Nadia Macerini and an Iranian man Sayyed Syed Khani.
