Sudan, Central Africa Republic Sign Medical Cooperation Agreement

 

Khartoum, Feb. 12 (SUNA) - Sudan and Central Africa Republic signed Friday a memorandum of understanding on health and medical cooperation to reactivate the existing cooperation in the fields of public health and technical cooperation

 

The Minister of Health of Central Africa Republic, Andre Nalke Dorogo, in a statement to SUNA, expressed happiness for the signing of the agreement which he described as excellent work for the interest of the people of the two neighboring countries, adding that the agreement is important because it renews all the existing health agreements between the two countries

 

He indicated that the agreement will contribute to training of the Central African doctors in Sudan, combating of diseases and maintenance of medical equipment

 

Meanwhile, the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Thabita Boutros said following the signing of the agreement in the presence of Sudan's ambassador to Central Africa Republic, Omer Saleh Abu-Bakr, that the importance of cooperation between the two countries in combating communicable diseases such as measles and polio stems from the fact that such diseases know no borders

 

Meanwhile, Dr. Thabita received an official invitation to visit the Central African Republic from President Francois Bozize in the context of the medical and health cooperation between the two countries

 

The Minister said in a press statement to SUNA that the invitation was conveyed by the Minister of Health of Central Africa Republic, adding that she accepted the invitation and the date of the visit will be fixed through official channels shortly. IF/BT
