Deputy Commissioner for Refugees, Engineer Abdalla Sueiman, said that around 32,000 Sudanese refugees are still in Kenya. He said in a statement to SUNA that the number of the Sudanese refugees who returned home through the repatriation programmes organized since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) was 16,513 persons, while the number of the Sudanese refugees who returned home voluntarily has reached 21,400 persons.

Engineer Suleiman said that a high level Sudanese delegation, headed by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, is due to visit Kenya in the coming days to participate in meetings of the Tripartite Commission between Sudan, Kenya and the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) on the voluntary repatriation of the Sudanese refugees in Kenya. He explained that this meeting is scheduled to be in Kenya on February 12 to review issues of the voluntary repatriation of the Sudanese refugees in Kenya
