Stars of Imam and Pastor affirms role of values of faith and religious leaders in peace-building and coexistence

 

Khartoum -Jan. 14 (SUNA) - Secretary General of the Inter-religious Council, Dr. Faroug Al-Bushra, said Sudan has a successful experience and immemorial history in the domains of peaceful co-existence, affirming the important role of religious leaders in the enrichment of tolerance and sustainability of peace in the community

 

Dr Farourg on Thursday addressed a press conference organized by the Inter-religious council at the Sudanese Media Centre under the theme of : " The Religious Values : a base for co-existence and Peace, and the Imam and the Pastor : the Nigerian Experiment. " Al-Bushra said the council is seeking to make use of the successful international religious experiments and is displaying the movie of the Imam and the Pastor which bears many messages of values of faith that were derived from both Islam and Christianity to present a model for tolerance in the world

 

He reiterated that the message of the movie is not a political and stresses the importance of conducts that are based on religious values in serving the communities, affirming the strong role being played by the clergy men and religious leaders

 

Meanwhile, the Producer of the Movie, Dr Imad Karam explained that displaying the movie of the Imam and the Pastor in Sudan in presence of the Imam and Pastor themselve besides allowing them to embark on a dialogue with the Sudanese media men, politicians and ordinary people aims at conveying the Nigerian tolerance experiment in order to contribute in enriching the coexistence and sustainable peace in Sudan

 

The two heroes of the Movie, Imam Muhammad Ashafa and Rev. James Wuye, expressed their happiness to be in Sudan as their second home, saying that there are a lot of similarities between Sudan and Nigeria and referred to the important role of the religious leaders in the realization of co-existence

 

They explained that achieving peace in Sudan is primarily the responsibility of the clergymen and religious leaders and that tolerance is the strongest weapon for peace, suggesting a day for telorance in the Sudan, noting that the Sudan is known as a country of civilization and coexistence and that the peacemakers are blessed with God Almighty.
