Salva Kiir Sworn in as President of the Government of South Sudan

 

Juba, May 21 (SUNA)- Gen. Salva Kiir was sworn in Friday in Juba as the President of the Government of South Sudan (GoSS), in the presence of the Vice - President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, the kenyan President, Mwai Kibaki and the former Kenyan President, Daniel Arap Moi. The inauguration of Kiir was also attended by representatives of a number of governments and regional and international organizations

 

Meanwhile, Kiir pledged to continue adopting the line set by the late former leader of Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM), Dr. John Garang

 

In an address he gave after taking oath, Kiir reviewed the tasks of the new government of south Sudan, and promised to complete implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) on the ground
