Prof. Al-Asam: The commission adopted firm measures to ensure the accuracy of the elections

Khartoum, April 10 (SUNA) - Member of the National Elections Commission Prof. Mukhtar Al-Asam has announced that the commission has chosen the most disciplined system for the voting process to ensure the accuracy of the elections

Dr. Al-Asam said in a press conference here today that representatives of the political parties and the candidates and the elections observers will be inside the voting centres throughout the voting operation

He added that the ballot boxes would be shown before the representatives and observers empty before their closing by a lock that can not be changed and carries a specific number, pointing out that those present in the voting centre will be asked to write down the number

He went on to say that the Commission has given each voting centre voting cards equal to the number of the registered voters in the centre with serial numbers, adding that the chairman of the centre will count the voting cards before the representatives of the candidates and the observers before the start of the voting operation

He explained that after identifying the voter his fingers will be signed with certain ink that can not be removed and then the voting card will be stamped and shown to the representatives of the candidates, stressing that any voting card that does not carry the stamp of the centre will not be valid

The member of the National Elections Commission referred to the existence of other regulations to identify veiled women and persons of special needs to close all gaps and to ensure conducting free and fair elections

He denied accusations by the opposition that the elections commission is favouring the ruling party as baseless and untrue, saying that the commission is dealing with all parties on equal footing. BT/BT
