President Al-Bashir to Head Sudan delegation for African Summit in Libya
Khartoum, June 29 (SUNA)- President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, will lead Sudan delegation for participation at the two-day 13th African Union summit, scheduled to begin Wednesday in Serte, Libya, amid extensive regional and international participation. The summit, which bears the motto "investment in Agriculture for Realizing Economic Growth and Food Security", aims to discuss a number of issues including the sustainable development in Africa under the current international financial crisis and the international food shortages. The 13th African Summit will review issues of a cultural investment and food security in Africa, climate change, reports of the African Union's Peace and Security Council, the African wise leaders committee, NEPAD, reform of the United Nations, besides reports of the commission on the new African Union flag, misuse of the international mandate, and meetings of the signatory states of the Rome basic statute, outcome of the 20Group summit and the preparation for the G8 summit. Meetings of the 15th session of the Executive Council of the African Union began Sunday in Serte prior to convocation of the 13th African Union summit. MO/MO
