President Al-Bashir Interviewed by Sudan TV on occasion of 20th Anniversary of Salvation Revolution
Khartoum, June 27 (SUNA)- President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, affirmed that Sudan is qualified to achieve a unique agricultural development and to be the food basket for the Arab and African countries depending the vast potentialities that it is enjoying such as water, fertile lands and low price electricity power. President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, pointed out that the National Salvation Revolution was erupted to rescue the nation from the economic and military collapse. Interviewed by Sudan TV Saturday at the Republican Palace, said that the situation of the country has necessitate launching of the Salvation Revolution and realizing several accomplishments and meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people. He said that the situation in Sudan before advent of the National Salvation Revolution was characterized by scarcity in the basic commodities and domination of the black market, besides the longstanding problem of the war., which was the biggest problem in the country. President Al-Bashir pointed out that the economic situation was deteriorating according to a report of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the year 1989, a matter which necessitated rescuing the country and realizing political stability. President Al-Bashir said that the realization of peace was the first file which was tackled by the National Salvation Revolution, adding that the strategic choice was then the national unity, the unity of rank and solving the problems that have been affecting the nation. He affirmed that Sudan is now qualified to a remarkable shift, which is represented in the air industry. President Al-Bashir the Agricultural Development is being launched in partnership with China and benefiting from the experiences of sister countries. He stressed that the government is keen to work for the permanence of peace, adding that there will be no return for war. President Al-Bashir through strong will peace and the national unity can be protected. He referred to a number of issues that will be solved in the coming stage such as the issues of Abyei, the border demarcation, the Referendum Act and the National Security Act. He said that the result of the fifth population census has refuted the allegations on ethnic cleansing in Darfur and proved the population increase in Darfur, compared to other regions in the country. On elections in Darfur, President Al-Bashir said that the government is convinced that the elections will be held in all Darfur region after it be completely secured, underlining that the coming elections will be free and fair. He welcomed the reconciliatory message of the new US administration, describing it as a step for new American relations with Muslim World.
