President Al-Bashir Inaugurates New Khartoum Water Station at Soba Area

 

Khartoum, Jan. 7 (SUNA) - President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, Thursday afternoon inaugurated the New Khartoum Water Station at Soba area in Khartoum. Addressing a celebration held on this occasion, President Al-Bashir affirmed the important role of the station in providing clean drinking water for the citizens in Khartoum State and putting an end to any shortage in water in the state. He said that the housing expansion in Khartoum State and the increase of services necessitated establishment of the New Khartoum Station. President Al-Bashir said that the Salvation Revolution meant since its advent to realize housing expansion, to establish a modern roads network and to enhance the services for the citizens in Khartoum State. He said that the capacity of the New Khartoum Water Station is 100,000 tons of water per day as the first stage, adding that the station's capacity will increase to 200,000 per day. Meanwhile, the Wali (governor) of Khartoum State, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Khidir, said at the inauguration ceremony that the New Khartoum Water Station is an important project and one of the accomplishments that are coinciding with the celebrations of the Independence Day anniversary.
